Homemade Playdough!

This is a recipe that I used to make when I was a kid. When we had a playdate a few weeks ago I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to make this again! The two 5 year old girls thought it was the coolest thing! Additionally, you probably have all of the ingredients on hand except for the cream of tartar!

Here's what you need:

1 cup flour
1 cup of boiling water
2 tbs cream of tartar
1/2 cup of salt
1 tbs vegetable oil
food coloring

Here's what to do:
Mix all ingredients together! We used a stand mixer with the dough hook but you can use whatever you like! Its that easy! Of course, we made pink and it inspired creative little minds to think about mixing different colors together to make new ones! Store in an airtight container. Ours has been well loved for about a month and a half and is still in good condition!

Glitter Ball Ornament

Christmas is right around the corner! Spice up your tree with these handmade glitter ball ornaments! They are so easy to make, why not give them as gifts this year?

What you need:
Pledge Future Shine furniture polish

Martha Stewart fine glitter

Glass ball ornaments (you can also use plastic)
ribbon
vinyl cutouts or stickers
funnel

What to do:
Remove top of glass ball ornament
Pour about 1 oz. of furniture polish inside ornament and swirl around
Drain the polish back into the bottle for reuse
Funnel a generous amount of glitter into ball and shake well to coat thoroughly
Pour out excess glitter
Replace top of ornament
Decorate with sticker or leave blank
Tie ribbon for hanging
Enjoy!

*This is a simple craft that can be done with kids. I am going to do this with 5 year old A that I nanny next month!

We are grateful!

It is so easy to complain. Complain about what you want, what you don't have, what you don't want to do but we forget about all the things that we do have. At this time of year, I always try to stop and remember the things I am grateful for. I included E on this little project and we jotted down a few things that we were grateful for. His list would have also included playstation3, miller lite, tacos, and pizza if I would have let it. But hey, those are things to be grateful for, just not as grateful as the things he did pick :)

You will need:
Picture frame (we used an 8x10)
Red, yellow, and orange construction paper
Cardstock
Double sided tape
I am grateful for printable. I got the printable here.
I got the leaf templates here.

How to make it:
Cut cardstock to fit frame.
Tape printable to middle of cardstock and put it in the frame.
Use leaf template to trace and cut out leaves.
Write what you are grateful for on each leaf.
Tape to outside of frame.

We have ours sitting on our kitchen counter and when I go to make my coffee in the morning I look at it and remember why I am thankful and not why I am angry about being awake so early :)

Football Sunday: Chili Dip

Football is a big deal around our house. Like, wearing team shirts, watching with our teddy bear wearing his team shirt, clapping and yelling big deal. When we watch football, there's just something about all the excitement that makes us want to eat. Today, we made chili cheese dip. E was so excited that he couldn't wait for me to take the pic to snag a bite!
Here is what you will need:
A block of cream cheese, softened on the counter
Canned chili without beans
Shredded cheddar cheese
Corn chips
Pie plate

Here's what to do:

Preheat oven to 350*
Spread cream cheese on pie plate
Spread chili on top of cream cheese
Top with cheddar cheese
Bake in oven for 10-15 minutes or until heated through.
ENJOY!

Even if your team didn't win your belly will still be happy!

*I will apologize now for the crappy cell phone pictures. I don't have my camera at the moment but I promise they will get better!
